The clocks have gone back, the evenings are drawing in, and suddenly there's a lot less daylight to fit property viewings into!
If you're looking to buy a home over the winter months, here's something worth thinking about.
Viewing a property in daylight really does make a difference.
Of course, you want to see the kitchen, bedrooms and living spaces, but there's so much more to a home than what's inside its four walls.
What about the garden? The neighbouring properties? The views? How much natural light comes into the rooms?
These are all things that can be difficult to appreciate when you're viewing a property in the dark.
And when you're making one of the biggest financial decisions of your life, you really do need to see the whole picture.
That's why I always encourage buyers to view properties during daylight hours wherever possible.
As the days get shorter, I'll be making more time for weekend viewings and working around buyers' availability to make sure they have the opportunity to see a property at its best. After all, those who work 9-5 are travelling to work in the dark and coming home in the dark now, so weekends are often the only opportunity to see daylight!
And that's one of the advantages of working with an Independent Estate Agent.
I'm not tied to traditional 9–5 office hours. I can offer a more flexible, personal approach to viewings, making sure buyers aren't rushed and sellers have the best opportunity to showcase their homes.
Because a viewing shouldn't just be about walking through a house.
It should be about discovering whether you can picture yourself living there.
And that's much easier when you can actually see it!
